Abstract

Education is the basic and fundamental requirement for the progress and development of a society. Muslims constitute the second largest religious group in India and thus the largest minority community. Among all the religious communities, Muslims are the lowest educated section of Indian society and Muslim women are the least one. The actual picture of Muslim women is very miserable
in our country. Although Islamic law provides all facilities to women to acquire knowledge, yet there are several social and religious reasons for their backwardness. Though they have set up many educational institutions at all levels, in spite of that they are educationally backward. Through this paper an attempt has been made to highlight the different problems they faced
in acquiring higher education with some remedial measures to overcome the difficulties.
